Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Richmond, Virginia and Gift of Life Adoptions have a great partnership. For several years, we have been working together to create families through adoption. This wonderful relationship has resulted in several completed adoptions.
CCC invited Leah Wild and Roxanne Robertson from Gift of Life to give a presentation to approximately 25 people. Several of these hopeful adoptive parents have approved homestudies with CCC, and the rest where information gathering to see if adoption was a good fit for them
On April 25, 2015, Leah and Roxanne flew to Richmond where they had a great evening presenting helpful adoption information to these eager families. They were able to cover a variety of adoption topics. They covered how the adoption process works from start to finish, from the day adoptive parents are matched to post placement visits. They also covered several facets of Florida adoption law. And finally, how adoption varies when the family is out of state, and what they need to know about The Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children.
We were so pleased to have three of our former adoptive families there to tell their adoption story. We know it was such a help and encouragement for those hopeful adoptive parents to hear these stories of a completed adoption. We love hearing the stories ourselves. It never gets old. We are very grateful to these wonderful families for taking the time out of their busy lives to come to support GOLA and CCC.
All and all it was a great night! We hope the families left informed and encouraged.
